Begonia Rex is grown more for its spectacular and colourful foliage than for its blooms which is pale in comparison to the leaves. This ornamental plant is well suited as a houseplant on window sills and hanging baskets. It prefers shaded and humid conditions and needs less water and fertilizer. Wet leaves and stems can lead to rot and highly concentrated fertilizer will burn the leaves. The plant can be procreated by dividing the rhizomes in summer or softwood cuttings.
Common Names: King begonia, Rex begonia
Family: Begoniaceae
